Napoleon Hill, author of the mega best-seller Think & Grow Rich, was the first person to popularize the term ‘masterminding’ just a few decades ago. After studying the lives of some 500 of the world’s wealthiest men, Hill discovered that each of these highly successful men had a group of peers from whom they received regular support, encouragement, contacts, knowledge and advice. By meeting regularly with a group of ‘like-minded’ individuals, they were able to access some kind of ‘Mastermind’ or collective group intelligence that could offer more solutions than they could ever access on their own.
This concept of the Mastermind is very much alive these days. Whether it’s on Facebook, Google or Yahoo Groups, Clubs, Meetups, wherever you look there’s all kinds of peer support groups for every topic, hobby, philosophy, religion, sports, activity or even disease. From Financial mastermind groups, to Alcoholics Anonymous groups, what all these groups seem to have in common – as the word itself implies – is that they are formed around an idea, or ‘like-mind’.
But, what if what brings the group together is not just a theme or an idea, but the intention to live a heart-centered life? A group for ‘heart-minded’ people whose deepest heart desire is to design, create and live a more authentic life, from the heart?
Introducing The Masterheart
As a teacher of Heart Intelligence, coach and small group facilitator, I’m always in awe of the mysterious and subtle ‘unconditionally loving and safe’ vibe that most of the people in some of my groups experience. A special vibe where not only new ideas emerge, but most importantly where people experience some kind of accelerated awakening, inner transformation or change. It is as if the process of coming together into our hearts generates an amplified heart field, where miracles happen, and people experience the kind of healing you only hear about in movies and books.
What exactly is this amplified heart field, and how do you consciously create it? In this article, I will do my best to share with you my understanding of this “Masterheart” field, what are the benefits of it, and how you can start creating one right where you are.
The Power of the Heart’s Electromagnetic Field
The Institute of HeartMath has discovered that the human heart, like the brain, generates a powerful electromagnetic field. This field is about 50 to 60 times greater in amplitude than the electrical field of the brain, and is about 5,000 times stronger than the field generated by brainwaves and it contains information and coding that can be transmitted through and outside the body.
In one particular scientific study entitled, “The Electricity of Touch: Detection and Measurement of Cardiac Energy Exchange Between People,” researchers set out to determine whether in one individual the heart’s electromagnetic field, as measured by an electrocardiogram (ECG), could be detected and measured in another person when the pair either were seated about three feet away from each other or held hands. The results of “The Electricity of Touch” experiment were positive, concluding that, “when people touch or are in proximity, a transfer of the electromagnetic energy produced by the heart occurs.”
What HeartMath’s research seems to suggest is that this transfer of energy from one person to those who are in close proximity, when shared in a small group, will have a tendency to create a larger group electromagnetic heart field or, as I prefer to call it, ‘Masterheart’ that is larger than the sum of all the individual electromagnetic fields. And, that this field has the capacity to transfer information and coding capable of bringing emotional healing and transformation to those present in the room.
The Benefits of an Amplified Heart Field
My understanding of the many benefits of participating in an amplified heart field comes from the context and experience of facilitating and coaching several small groups using Tej Steiner’s Heart Circle format over the past several years. This highly experiential, small group approach to heart-centered transformation, can create massive shifts, over a short, sometimes intense period of time. Tej’s framework creates a safe, resonant and heart-centered space where individuals can:
- Feel safe to explore what is real and true for them ‘in the moment’.
- Feel more alive, and experience their emotions more fully and deeply.
- Become more aware of and start listening to and following their heart
- Explore safely what it is they are really wanting in relationship to any topic, or area of their life.
- Learn to develop the capacity for discernment, and become aware of their inner blocks or resistance that is keeping them away from what they really want.
- Receive each others ‘Medicine’ or healing, by simply being in the room while ‘holding space’ or listening to others.
- Embody or physicalize an experience for the purpose of integrating it into their lives.
Participating in an amplified heart field, or Masterheart can be a deeply transformational experience that, done regularly, can have a profound, lasting effect in your life.
How to Create an Amplified Heart Field
Creating an amplified heart field that transforms the members of each group is no easy task. It requires the individuals commitment and intention to physically, emotionally, mentally, and energetically open and come into their hearts for the purpose of supporting one another. How do you do this? By creating an ongoing group where individuals can agree to:
- Be Real. Safely express what it is that they are truly thinking, feeling, sensing or wanting.
- Be Present. Safely explore what is really happening at each moment.
- Honor each others needs and wants at all time.
- Feel Connected to each other.
- Be Heart Directed by creating a safe space where each individual con connect with, and follow their own heart’s direction.
Does this resonate with you? If so, I highly recommend that you consider the possibility of creating such group, by inviting ‘heart-minded’ friends and colleagues that can come together regularly for the purpose of not only supporting one another, but helping each other create a life that is in greater alignment with your heart’s deepest desires.

Cholesterol, your body’s best friend?
Having a healthy heart is important to you, right? From where I see it it starts with how you manage your emotions, and the foods that you eat. If anger had a color, what color would it be?
A new study by a team of Finnish researchers recently published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences (PNAS) analyzes where we feel emotions in our bodies. Through color-coded visualizations that show different emotions, the team discovered where we physically experience a total of 14 different sensations, including love, anxiety, depression, fear, sadness, and happiness. Check them out!
Transform: Yourself and the World
The debate between the heart and the mind continues… science vs spirituality, Neuroscience vs Cardioscience… Could the Bible is wrong about what it says regarding the brain and the heart? Wait, the bible never uses the word brain. Did they even have brains back then? If this is sounding confusing, wait until you read this article about what our ancestors said about our hearts. Read it, then ask your own heart to revel the deeper truth within…
