Iceland has had at least 7. The United Kingdom just had one. And Venezuela is well on its way to trigger theirs.
A referendum (from the Latin referre ‘to bring back’) is a general vote on a single political question or issue that is brought back to the people for a direct decision. Its aim is to acknowledge our individual and collective right to choose what we believe is right and good for us.
Sovereignty is the name of the game. And a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ is all that’s required to take your life, your family’s, or an entire nation’s in a completely different direction.
Now, I’m not in Iceland, Venezuela or the UK. And frankly, what is happening in all those places in the world where two versions of reality are in conflict with each other, doesn’t appear to have much to do with me.
Not unless I make it so.
Because it’s only when I look at what is happening ‘out there’ in the world, and I ask myself the question, “How much of that is really about me?”, that it becomes meaningful and significant.
You see, just like entire nations are divided and fragmented over important decisions that need to be made, I too am equally divided.
Within me, there’s three intelligence centers wanting three completely different things at any given time: my head, my heart and my gut. Rudolph Steiner called them, our thinking, feeling, and doing.
When my three amigos are in perfect and congruent alignment which each other life seems to flow in a magical way. I feel powerful.
But when they are NOT, I feel fragmented and weak. And that’s EXACTLY when you might want to host your own private referendum.
Hosting your Own Private Referendum
Having the courage to ‘bring back’ in front of you that ONE issue, key question, or important decision you need to make is how you restore your sovereign right to create your own reality.
Right now, we’re all being asked to consciously, lovingly, and courageously choose the direction we want our lives to take. We’re being asked to reclaim our natural right to choose who we want to be, who we want to be with, how we want to live, and the path we want to take.
We’re also being asked to honor and respect other’s right to create their own reality based on what is right and best for them. Realizing that we really have no say over their choices; that we can only inspire, suggest or invite, but we can’t manipulate, push, or coerce others into following the path we have chosen for ourselves.
Because your path is unique to you, and no one else.
Because even when others might join you on your path, ultimately you cannot walk it for them.
Because only by remaining TRUE to yourself, and what’s real and important to you, can you truly stay on your path and let others walks theirs.
The Question Being Asked
Bringing that ONE important issue, problem or question before you where it can be subjected to your own inner referendum of TRUTH is what will set you free.
What you’re looking for is a resounding ‘Yes’ or ’No’, to the question that lies before you…
- Has my relationship run its course and is it time to move on?
- Am I ready to welcome true love, start a family and create the relationship(s) my heart is longing for?
- Do I take a leap of faith in my business and trust that God, Spirit, or the Universe will support me along the way?
Deep inside your heart, there’s a unified field where head, heart and gut become one in the greater service of love, where you can discern what is ultimately T.R.U.E. for you…
TRUE: Is this TRUE for me? Do I believe this will be good for me?
RIGHT: Does this new direction feel right in my heart?
UNION: Is this decision unified or congruent with my core values, highest purpose, or life direction?
EXPRESSION: What action can I take today that will express my decision to follow this new direction?
Inside you there’s an internal guidance system that works flawlessly, if all you do is relax into the stillness of your own heart and listen to it.
Can you love yourself enough to be still and know the truth that awaits for you within your beating heart?
Here’s a simple practice that will help you do that.
