Have you noticed how it’s nearly impossible to tell who the real Johnny Depp is these days? Each time the actor makes a public appearance he speaks with a very distinct accent, showing some weird facial expressions and eccentric mannerisms.
When asked why he does this, his answer is very simple: “I’m just practicing a new character I’ll be playing in my next film.”
What if Captain Jack Sparrow was showing us the key to becoming the person we TRULY want to be in our hearts?
What if all it took was FIRST practicing BEING the person you want to be BEFORE you can attempt to do the things that person does?
Let me explain…
Have you ever told yourself that you can’t do X [thing] because you’re not Y [type of person]?
- I can’t write a book because I’m not creative
- I can’t run a marathon because I’m not in athletic.
- I can’t start a business because I’m not entrepreneurial.
- I can’t coach people because I’m not confident.
- I can’t attract a partner because I’m not lovable.
So how do you fix this? How do you embark on the journey or path of becoming the person you truly, and wholeheartedly want to be?
Here’s the 5-step process that not only has worked for Johnny Depp and each one of the brilliant characters he’s played, but also for me when I made the decision to become a professional coach. This is essentially the same process I teach in both my Manifesting from the Heart online course and The Path of the Heart Seminars.
The 5-Step Process for Becoming the Person You TRULY Want To Be
Step #1: Define who you want to be
What type of person do you want to be? What are the qualities this person has that you’d like to develop? What is it about becoming this kind of person that excites you the most? Writing down the answers to these questions will help you get the creative process started.
Step #2: Intend to become this kind of person
Now that you’re clear about who you want to be your next step is to pour energy into this decision by setting the intention to become this person. The intention is the driving force behind each one of your decisions and actions. Place a hand over your heart and say to yourself,
“I, (say your name), intend to become a person who (say the qualities, habits, and behaviors of the person you want to become)”
Step #3: Find your inner alignment
What you want to do now is to fully immerse yourself in the inner world of the person you’d like to be. You can do this by asking yourself, “If it were 100% true that you were that person right now, how would you feel? In my experience, this is best achieved by imagining yourself already being that person and assuming those feelings right now, in this present moment. Some people refer to this as vibrational or energetic alignment.
Step #4: Take inspired action
Once you are fully aligned with the person you want to be, which means you feel FEEL as if you already ARE that person, it is FROM this place that you will take action and do those things such person would do. What makes this action ‘inspired’ is that it is inspired by the feeling of your desire already being fulfilled within you.
Step #5: Stay in character
Inevitably, the physical world around you including your friends and family will do their best to convince you are still not the person you’d like to be. A fact which is true, but you must courageously deny by making it your #1 and priority to STAY in character no matter what. How do you achieve this? By going back to step #4 as many times as you need to during the day in order to find your inner alignment with the person you want to become. That’s exactly what Johnny Depp does when he conducts interviews and shows up as the new character he’s developing.
Over time, as you repeat this process over and over again, you will inevitably begin to see how your outer reality begins to conform to the inner reality you’ve intended to manifest and have become fully aligned with.
Rather than “faking it until you make it”, the process of Manifesting from the Heart is essentially the process of… FEELING IT, UNTIL YOU MAKE IT.
As you align your inner being with the person you would like to become – in consciousness – over time you get to rip the benefits and rewards of actually being this person.
Over to you …
Everyone’s approach to the manifestation process is different. This process worked for me, and for so many of my clients, I have taught it to.
