Are you familiar with the Chinese Proverb, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”? If so, have you ever stopped to consider that if this is true, then taking that first step in the wrong direction could take you two thousand miles from where you want to be?
Talk about a major misstep!
Take the wrong first step in your 1,000 mile journey and you might just end up 2,000 miles away from where you want to be. Eish!
How do you make sure that you are headed in the right direction? How do you ensure that the projects, goals or endeavors you’ll be focusing on this year will take you in the direction of what matters most to you in the long run?
Here it is: By focusing on that ONE most important thing that will not only make this the wildest and most amazing year of your life, but also take your life, career, and relationships to whole new level.
For me, the ONE thing I’ll be focusing on this year is a musical performance that combines my work as a teacher, coach, and actor, in a way that touches people’s hearts and inspires others to follow The Path of the Heart. The working title for the project is Gabriel and his Amazing Multicolored Dreamheart.
What about you? Can you think of that ONE most important thing you could focus on this year that would not only make this year wildly amazing but also take you forward in the direction of the biggest vision for your life?
If you do, be sure it’s something challenging, meaningful, and feasible…
Challenging: Something that will require energy, time and commitment, requiring you to stretch and grow new muscles and qualities that will literally transform you at the DNA level of each cell.
Meaningful: Something that matters most to you, is very close to your heart and in alignment with your life’s purpose or vision for your life.
Feasible: Something that is both possible and realistic given where you currently are in life, and that can be achieved if you do develop the mindset, heartset, skillset, discipline and habits that will eventually take you there.
What you want to do is focus on that ONE project, goal or idea that, if that’s all you focus on this year, it will propel you faster and more effectively towards your biggest goal or vision for your life. ONE thing, one rabbit you’ll be putting your best effort in going after with all your body, heart, mind and soul.
Deciding what is that ONE thing you’ll be focusing on this year, is your first step along your journey of a thousand miles. When the right step is taken in the direction you truly want to go, overtime this step will create a domino effect that will sequentially allow you to achieve even greater successes. And by keeping the course, you’ll eventually get to where you want to go.
So, whatever your future vision or goal might be, the question you want to be asking yourself is, “What is the ONE most important thing I need to be focusing on this year that will propel me forward unequivocally in the direction of my biggest dreams and aspirations in life?”
Then, start taking the first few steps by asking yourself, “If this is what I’ll be focusing on this year, what is that I need to be doing right NOW?” Setting a future goal and then drilling down to what you should be focusing on right now is a little like those Russian matryoshka dolls in that your ONE thing “right now” is nested inside your ONE thing today, which is nested inside your ONE thing this week, which is nested inside your ONE thing this month, etc.
Success happens sequentially and over time, one step at a time. That small step you could take today in the right direction will eventually lead to exponentially bigger and bolder steps and results as brilliantly demonstrated in this awesome YouTube clip of a Physics professor explaining the physics behind the domino effect.
Take that first step no matter how tiny it might be and you’ll be starting the most amazing, life changing adventure along The Path of the Heart. What are you waiting for?

Don’t Quit Before the Miracle Happens
“As the weeks turned into months, my job was taking its toll on me. I began to hate my job. I dreaded going into work. Sundays were the worst day of the week for me. I would regularly use my paid time off to call in sick.”
But Do Quit if Your Heart Tells you So…
Throughout my life I’ve quit my job at least three times with nothing lined up. And, it turned our okay. But is this smart behavior? Should you also quit yours to follow your heart? Here’s some valuable suggestions.

The Competitive Advantage of Meditation
Why are business leaders embracing meditation rather than, say, massage or ping-pong? Because there’s something to meditation that appears to benefit CEOs more than recreation or relaxation do alone.
