There’s a price we pay for walking The Path of the Heart. Each person who has left the safety of the life they planned to go after the life that was waiting for them has had to give something up.
When my Portuguese grandfathers left the Island of Madeira during the 1860’s in order to settle in Georgetown, British Guyana, they knew in their hearts that they might never see their loved ones again, nor come back home. They didn’t.
But more than a hundred years later, many of the future generations of Gonsalves residing all over the world visit the island of Madeira each year to honor the courageous men and women who left the safety of their homes and journeyed to the New World.
Inevitably, the price you’ll end up paying for following The Path of the Heart will include feeling the emotional pain associated with:
1) Leaving behind the person you once were so that you can become the person you’re meant to become.
Because The Path of the Heart is a journey of transformation, expansion, and growth, those parts of you that no longer serve you and that are not the ‘real’ you, will inevitably fall away. As this happens, your vibration or energy will change, making it increasingly difficult to connect with and relate to others the way you used to. As a result, you may have to release several people in your life who are no longer a good fit, including some family members and close friends. Over time, they will be replaced by new relationships that match your new level of relating, understanding and seeing the world.
2) Not being able to turn around and go back so you can move forward in the direction of your dreams.
The more you advance along your path, the opportunity to turn around begins to slowly disappear. Over time, going back will no longer be an option and your desire to go back to what you thought was the ‘familiar’ or ‘home’ will be less and less. You might change direction, but you’ll never go back because going back is synonymous with or worst than death.
3) Surrendering to a Higher Vision, so that you can be guided into the life that’s waiting for you.
Letting go of the life you had planned, for the life that is waiting for you, means you are embarking on the life of your dreams. But this life, which is also a planned life, must eventually be surrendered or let go of so that you can welcome the life that is ultimately waiting for you…
A life beyond your wildest dreams or creative imagination.
A life that will surpass anything you’ve ever thought, imagined or believed possible.
A life that is at the service of the Greater Good, God, or Life itself.
Pain is the price we pay. The pain of letting go of the familiar, so you can experience the courage and wonder of living in the absolute unknown or that mysterious space where miracles of joy, creativity, love, and happiness happen every day. Where something much greater than yourself, some invisible force begins to guide you from your heart, towards the life that is waiting for you.
This space is your new home.
May the light and love of our Creator fill your heart, wash away your tears and pain, and open you up to the life and the love that is waiting for you. And may it all unfold with great ease and joy!
